Success Stories: Seton Hall University

Seton Hall’s Goal

To create a feeling of belonging among students through school/student connectedness 24/7.

Located just fourteen miles from Manhattan, Seton Hall first approached clearTXT for a security alert system that would reliably connect students and the school through the students’ mobile phones. SHU tested alphaTXT, the basic version of clearTXT’s mobile technology, which enables broadcast messaging of emergency alerts, and news. School academics quickly recognized the potential for direct student-instructor dialog through clearTXT’s integration with Blackboard, and decided to license deltaTXT.

Paul Fisher, Director of the school’s Teaching and Learning Technology Center, says, “We looked at other offerings, but clearTXT provides what the university needs in the least complicated and most cost-effective manner.”

Enthusiasm Quickly Spread

Seton Hall’s athletic department has now joined the academic community in taking advantage of this text-based opportunity.

Recognizing that messages appearing on students’ mobile phones are far-reaching and a more efficient way to promote the schools’ teams, games, and sports-related events, the athletic department decided to use clearTXT. Students and instructors at SHU now have the opportunity to receive mobile messages about the school’s sports teams that interest them most. With clearTXT, people receive only the information they want.

Immediate Benefits

Because of the flexibility and functionality native to clearTXT solutions, Seton Hall is realizing its goal of providing a campus experience for students that feels like “home.”
