Introducing the Mobility in Education Community

We’re busy working on some incredible new features, functions, and services. But one of the most exciting things happening at clearTXT is not a new feature or product – it’s the new Mobility in Education Community (mobecom). Established by clearTXT, the goal of mobecom is to promote and foster the growth of mobile technologies in academia.

Located at http://www.mobecom.org, mobecom is intended to be an active and growing community of people interested in how technologies can be used by educators to connect, inform, and educate people anytime, anywhere, regardless of device. As the tagline of the community states, “It’s not about phones. It’s about freedom.”

We created the community and will handle the administrative tasks such as web hosting, managing the listserv, and so on. However, mobecom is open to anyone interested in mobile technology and education. The site is purely community oriented and not a sales tool – we will not use the community to promote our products, nor will we allow selling from anyone else. Mobecom is the first community of its kind and we urge you to visit and sign up for the mailing list.

Atlantic Cape Community College - Welcome!

The newest member of the fast-growing clearTXT family is Atlantic Cape Community College. The second oldest community college in New Jersey, Atlantic serves the educational needs of more than 6,500 students.

This will not be the first time Atlantic uses mobile messaging to connect its campus community members. Throughout 2006, Atlantic utilized a text messaging system from another company. After just 1 year, Atlantic realized the potential of mobile messaging and decided to take communication to a new level. To do this, they needed a communication platform that was more comprehensive, feature rich, and powerful. clearTXT was the choice.
